Houtan Moaveni is the Executive Director of the New York State Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES). Mr. Moaveni has dedicated his career to public service, with a track record of successfully planning, launching, and implementing some of the largest, most impactful, and most complex clean energy initiatives in the nation. Throughout his career, Mr. Moaveni has received numerous awards and honors recognizing his leadership and service. Prior to his current role, Mr. Moaveni served as the Director of Facility Certification and Compliance at the New York State Department of Public Service (DPS), where he led the certification and compliance for all electric generation and transmission facilities considered under Article 10 and Article VII of the Public Service Law.
Prior to his role at DPS, Mr. Moaveni served as the Senior Advisor to the CEO and President of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Before joining NYSERDA, Mr. Moaveni had an accomplished career in the clean energy sector, working for the New York Power Authority (NYPA) and the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC). He earned a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and a master’s degree in Energy Management and Policies.
