Melissa Lavinson
Head of Corporate Affairs, New England
Melissa is Head of Corporate Affairs for New England for National Grid, where she is responsible for leading National Grid’s issue management, state and municipal legislative affairs, community engagement and local government relations, stakeholder and reputation management, media relations, strategic communications, political strategy and Grid for Good program for the region. She joined National Grid in September 2022 from Exelon Corporation, where she was SVP of Federal Government and Regulatory Affairs and Public Policy.
Melissa previously served as SVP of Governmental and External Affairs for Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI), the parent company of Pepco, Delmarva Power and Atlantic City Electric, which provide gas and electric service to Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and the District of Columbia. During her tenure at PHI, she was responsible for the design and implementation of stakeholder relations and issues management programs, as well as legislative affairs in each jurisdiction. She also oversaw the company’s reputation and corporate responsibility initiatives, including philanthropic and volunteer programs.
Prior to PHI, Lavinson spent more than 20 years at California-based PG&E Corporation holding a number of successively larger leadership roles culminating as the vice president of Federal Affairs and Policy and Chief Sustainability Officer.
Earlier in her career, Melissa worked at MRW and Associates and in ICF Consulting’s Climate Change Practice. She sits on several local and national boards, including the Keystone Center Energy Board and Smart Electric Power Association Board and holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hamilton College.
