Barry Reaves is a seasoned Diversity Practitioner with over 18 years of experience. He currently serves as Vice President of DEIJ/Workforce Development and Environmental Justice for the Northeast Clean Energy Council (NECEC), a world-class clean energy hub in the Northeast, a nonprofit business member organization, and the NECEC Institute focused on industry research, innovation, policy development, and communications initiatives that propel the clean energy industry forward.
In this role, he serves as the strategic leader and advisor on matters of diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, Environmental Justice, and Workforce Development to the NECEC president and other executive leaders both in State and Local Governments and Non-Profit Organizations and to the and other organizational leaders and 300 + member organizations that cover the entire Northeast Region from Maine to New York.
He was the first Director of DEI for the Boston Planning and Development Agency (BPDA), former Deputy Director of Investigations and training for the City of Boston, Director of Investigation for the Department of the Navy, and Chief Diversity Officer for the United States Army Central Command that supported over 241,000 personal and 21countries.
Barry is a graduate of the University of Louisville with a degree in organizational leadership and the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, which is the premier Department of Defense school in Diversity and Inclusion, Equal opportunity, and equal employment opportunity training, education, and research. He is a Certified Diversity Executive (CDE) and Executive Certified Diversity Coach (ECDC) and serves on multiple nonprofit boards in the Commonwealth.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving on Active Duty for 24 years and deploying to Korea, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
